After the past ten years it should be apparent to every investor that they will be faced with many different environments over any reasonably lengthy investment period, ranging from those that are extremely favorable to those that are decidedly adverse. Maintaining a grounded perspective when conditions are subject to drastic change is difficult because of the emotional stress associated with volatility.
At Cimarron, our philosophy is that alternative investment strategies can serve an important purpose in helping many investors balance the risk/reward dilemma that is inherent in establishing an investment plan.
There is ample evidence in support of our conclusion, even though we acknowledge that previous results may not be replicated in the future. From inception through the present*, both Cimarron funds have outperformed domestic major market indices and experienced less volatility in the process.
Similarly, our results in comparison to our peer group are extremely good. We do not maintain a database of other funds of funds, but according to one prominent database, Cimarron Partners, L.P. ranks in the top 2% over the three-year period ending December 31, 2011.
